Perfect Timing

God has really been impressing upon my heart lately that His timing is perfect. It is a lesson close to my heart because He taught me this very early in my life. Have you been able to see God’s perfect timing? I’d love to hear your stories in the comments section! If you don’t know God, or you haven’t been able to see His perfect timing, I pray today’s post leaves your heart full of hope!

When I was a young teenager, my dad was working for a company that was going through many rounds of layoffs. He was fortunate that someone was able to forewarn him that he would be laid off in the next round of layoffs. Having a heads up was such a blessing that isn’t often afforded.

My dad was the sole income provider in our home. So when he found out he was getting laid off, he was stressed! It was visible that he was worried. I remember praying silently in my room. I was worried about how worried he was!

God blessed us during that time. My dad was able to find a new job before he was laid off and the start date was the Monday after he was getting laid off work. Wow! I praised God and thanked Him. And in my prayer I said, “Wow, God, your timing is so perfect! It would have been nice if you gave him a week or two off in between so he can rest. But thank you for providing for us and giving my dad a new job!” (Paraphrased to the best of my recollection!) I couldn’t even make this up, my dad got a phone call from his new employer who said they were pushing out his start date a week! You know that God showing up for us so specifically taught me that God hears us and cares for us.

God not only did this one time for my dad – he actually did it twice! The next time this happened, my dad got a heads up again! This is so rare! And this time he got a job and the start date was two weeks from the day of his layoff! God is incredible!

Fast forward to today, God has blessed me to be able to see His perfect timing in MANY situations. Even when it goes against all our “perfectly laid plans”. Today I’m sharing with you from the waiting room at the hospital where my young daughter is having her adenoids and tonsils removed. We’ve had this surgery schedule for a few months and so I had time to mentally prepare. (Although I still cried a little!)

What I didn’t know was that my husband would completely rupture his achilles tendon and need surgery two days before. Coming into this week it seemed like a lot. But I have such confidence in God! He has been with me and cared for me all my life (in the good, the bad and the ugly) and I knew this time wouldn’t be any different. He is a God who cares for us! And He shows us in so many ways!

Let me tell you about some of the ways God has shown up for us this week. He made it so I had to ask a friend to watch my kids for Paul’s surgery this week. That was not in the plan, but God! I didn’t know how much that would bless me. I thought it was such an inconvenience! This friend of mine has a daughter and loves my girls! So I knew they were in great hands. When I dropped the girls off my friend and I caught up a little bit and she dropped so much Holy Spirit wisdom that I needed to hear in that moment. And it completely changed the course of the day for me (particularly by way of my heart and attitude). Oh how I thank God for wise and honest friends who follow Jesus and speak boldly and lovingly into our lives. I am so grateful!

Not only that (that was enough for me to see God in everything!) but God provided through my mother in law and our church community food for the week (and beyond!). He provided men to come to the house and help Paul get comfortable and pray for him after his surgery. Through my mother in law and my mother, God provided assistance through the week. I still have to work, and so I needed all the help I could get. And God has and is providing for every need: spiritually, emotionally and physically!

There are times I don’t understand what God is doing in the moment, but if I look for Him I see Him and His love weaved throughout. If you’re not sure about God I pray that you pray for Him to reveal Himself to you and that you come to know and have confidence in Him. He is trustworthy and He loves you more than you could imagine!

Surgery updates – in case you were wondering, Paul’s surgery was successful and he’s on his way to a full recovery! And I just saw the doctor and Harper is doing well too! I will get to go meet her in recovery shortly! (Just finished writing … God’s timing! ❤️) God is so good!
